Buffalo Airport Police identify the Batavia man charged with having a loaded semi-automatic pistol in his carry-on luggage.
The NFTA tells WBTA that 64 year old Herbert Schroeder of Batavia was stopped as he was going through the TSA security checkpoint at Buffalo Niagara International last Friday.
Police confiscated the gun.
Schroeder was ticketed on a local weapons charge.
It is legal to take a firearm on an aircraft but only in checked luggage and only if the weapon is not loaded, properly packed and disclosed to the airline.

The Wyoming County man accused of driving a car without doors and an axe planted in the roof is facing new charges. 
Jared Price of Java was accused of driving the car while impaired by drugs.
Price is accused of bending the backseat of a deputy’s patrol car and intentionally damaging wires connected to the airbags. 
The sheriff’s office said it will cost about 3-thousand dollars to repair the damage.
Price is still behind bars and is due back in court later this month.

Batavia Police tell WBTA it was a dispute over a dog that allegedly caused a fracas between two men that put one in jail.
45 year old Eddie Miles Jr. of Washington was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and attempting to torture the dog.
Police say the dog is OK after Miles allegedly injected him with an unknown substance.
Miles was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

New York State will be shelling out millions to give prisoners college educations. 
Governor Cuomo announced a seven-million-dollar re-entry program to offer higher education at correctional facilities across the state. 
Medaille College in Buffalo will participate at Albion Correctional.
Cuomo points to stats showing a lower recidivism rate among inmates who get an education.

A 22 year old Bliss woman and a 17 year old girl arrested on drug charges in Warsaw.
 22 year old Rhiannon Wilson was charged with possession of drugs and tampering with evidence.
The unnamed 17 year old was found with 21 bags of heroin, packaged for sale. Wilson was accused of trying dump two of the packages.
The two were arrested in the parking lot of the Tops Markets in Warsaw.

A Canandaigua man is accused of attacking a woman with an electric saw.  Canandaigua police say they arrested Anthony Tears yesterday after he attacked a woman with a reciprocating saw. 
The woman was sent to the hospital for injuries to her head, leg and arm.  Tears was jailed in Ontario County.
