An Orleans County man will be back in court later this week to face murder charges in connection with the death of his 15-year-old sister-in-law. Albion police say Katherine Sanchez's body was found on Friday after she had been missing since January 14th.
Investigators say 21-year-old Carlos Cardenas, a Mexican national allegedly in the U.S. illegally, admitted to raping and killing his wife's little sister.
Family members say Sanchez, who attended Albion High School, was babysitting the two children her sister has with Cardenas when Katherine went missing.
Cardenas was in custody at the Federal Detention Center in Batavia for the past two weeks since he was picked up on a drunk driving charge. The young girl was already dead, police said.
Cardenas was charged Friday with second-degree murder. He will be back in court on Thursday.
