Both driver and passenger were taken to Erie County Medical Center last night, following a serious injury accident on Pike Road in the Town of Alexander.
Initial investigations at the scene reveal that 21-year-old Wyatt Becker of Darien was headed westbound on Pike Road around 12:20am Saturday, when for unknown reason, his car crossed the center line and veered off the south shoulder of the roadway.
Becker's vehicle struck a grove of trees. His passenger, 20-year-old Luke Tarnacki of Alden, became entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency crews. Tarnacki was Mercy Flighted to ECMC with what were described as "serious injuries."
Becker was taken by ground ambulance with only minor injuries.
Genesee County Sheriff's Deputies say speed and alcohol both appear to be factors in the crash.
