The list of consolidation options for Batavia City Schools is proving hard to whittle down – in fact, that list is growing.
Another tentative option, called “Option 6” would build a 20 to 30 classroom addition on John Kennedy Elementary. This would make J-K the biggest elementary school building in the district, and it would become the only elementary for all schoolchildren in Batavia.
District Buildings and Grounds Supervisor Jim Jacobs introduced “Option 6” at a parent meeting on Wednesday night.

A LeRoy woman will remain on house arrest for the next 9 months after she conspired to import ecstasy pills into the country.
30-year-old Jennifer Stein will wear an electronic tracking device and later serve 3 years probation following her sentence in federal court. Stein was convicted after being caught with about 2,000 ecstasy pills on the Rainbow Bridge coming in from Canada, back in 2006. Lawmen at the time found a female passenger in Stein’s car with the pills taped to her body. Stein had apparently paid that woman $400 to help smuggle the drugs.

A traffic note for Batavia motorists:
Coming up on Monday and Tuesday, Grandview Terrace, Crescent Court, and the north-most portions of Jackson Street and River Street will all be closed.
Those roads will all be re-paved, beginning at 7:00am each day. Residents are asked not to park on the roadway.

From WBTA’s Eye on Government:
Batavia City Schools’ Audit Committee will meet on Monday evening beginning at 5:00pm at the Washington Avenue administration building.
A special meeting of the Board of Education is scheduled to directly follow, at 7:00pm inside Robert Morris Elementary School’s multi-purpose room. The public is welcome to attend both meetings.

Buffalo Bills mania is apparently spreading around the country now.
Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick says his brother was in a bar in Santa Fe, New Mexico last Sunday, watching the Bills’ victory over New England, when he was approached by a man who asked for his autograph.
Fitz's brother told the man he must be mistaken, figured it was a look-alike thing, and said it was Ryan's autograph the man likely wanted…but the man said no, he wanted the autograph of the brother of Ryan Fitzpatrick.
