Widespread outrage is overcoming New York politicians regarding news that a vote on the Sandy relief bill died in the House.

In a statement, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer says "It is truly heartless that the House will not even allow the Sandy bill to come to the floor for a vote, and Speaker Boehner should reconsider his ill-advised decision."

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has harsh words for the House’s inaction over the Sandy bill, calling it “indefensible and shameful.” She also said in a statement that Boehner does not have the “dignity nor the guts” to tell families rebuilding their homes and businesses personally that they have to wait longer for help.

Also, a joint statement from Governor Cuomo and Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey says “This failure to come to the aid of Americans following a severe and devastating natural disaster is unprecedented.”

The Senate has already voted to approve the $60 billion disaster aid measure. If a vote does not occur in the House by the end of the day today, the process will have to begin all over again.
