Long time City of Batavia Republican Party Chairman Joe Gerace has resigned.
Gerace telling WBTA this morning he submitted his letter of resignation to the city committee last night.
Gerace is 76. He has served as City of Batavia GOP Chairman for 15 years.
Jim Russell will serve as acting chair until the party elects a new leader.
Gerace says he will continue to serve on the city and county GOP committees.
A Byron man is behind bars this morning facing a burglary charge.
22-year-old Jeffrey Leaton is accused of breaking into a home on Griswold Road in LeRoy.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say Leaton broke in with the intention of stealing jewelry.
He’s locked up in lieu of 20-thosuand dollars bail.
Genesee County pistol permit holders are still waiting for the means to keep their information private.
County Clerk Don Read is waiting for official instructions from the state regarding the “opt out” process.
Read says more information should be available later in the week.
He says there will still be plenty of time to process the forms required to keep pistol permit information private.
If permit holders do not “opt out” by filing the proper form, their information can be made public through the Freedom of Information Law.
Former gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino apparently remains angry at "New York Post" columnist Fred Dicker.
The Buffalo businessman gave the finger to Dicker in Albany yesterday as Dicker was in the middle of his daily radio show.
The two men got into a physical altercation during Paladino's run for governor three years ago.
