Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared a statewide state of emergency due to the latest winter storm and unsafe driving conditions.

He says the weather “is nothing to trifle with,” and says residents should consider staying home Friday if possible.

A Winter Storm Warning and Wind Chill Advisory in effect now for Western New York as the entire state deals with bitter cold and lots of snow.
The National Weather Service says snow will continue throughout today and tonight.

Ten to 14 inches is expected to be on the ground in Batavia through tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

The Winter Storm Warning expired at noon Friday and the Wind Chill Advisory lasts until noon tomorrow. The temperature outside will actually feel closer to zero degrees and below.

Winds are also gusting 10 to 20 miles per hour.

Tomorrow, the high temperature is not expected to reach double digits. NWS says to wear extra layers and make sure all skin is covered.

Just this hour, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has issued a No Unnecessary Travel Warning for the county due to hazardous road conditions.

No one has ever heard of chains? How about you give tickets to the folks who try to drive on summer tires in the middle of winter and let the folks with the proper equipment use the roads.

I know this kind of logic seldom makes it into New York, but it really should. A foot of snow is not a natural disaster, it's normal winter weather.

Cmon really? Here in Montana this happens every three days in the winter...okay that's a joke but still, thirty below and blowing snow and schools are still open here and everybody still has to go to work. I just looked at the noaa reports fir fir the northeast and I'm thinking its time the east coast get tough. Lol

The cooling skeptics and deniers must really be burning the midnight oil trying to spin this into another proof point in their Global Warming / Climate Change jihad!
