Batavia Police Department News Release
Officers from the Batavia Police Department were dispatched at 11:28 AM to a reported bank robbery, which had just occurred, at Five Star Bank located at 401 W Main St, Batavia. The Five Star Bank employees did an excellent job and provided a vehicle description and license plate number to the Genesee County Dispatch Center. The Genesee County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police assisted with a search of the area. New York State Troopers and Attica Police located the vehicle involved in this incident on SR98 near the Village of Attica. A felony stop was conducted and two subjects were taken custody. The robbery suspect was identified as Gregory B. Beardsley. Beardsley is being arraigned at Batavia City Court. The second occupant in the vehicle was not involved in the robbery. Over $3000.00 was stolen and recovered. At no time was a weapon threatened and/or displayed.
Police said that only six minurtes elapsed from the time of the initial dispatch to the time when the suspects were taken into custody.
