26 year old Dwayne Pearsall of Batavia, a man who lists no permanent address, has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing two children.
Batavia Police accuse Pearsall of abusing one child under the age of 15 five years ago.
In a second case, Pearsall is accused of molesting a child last year who was under the age of 11.
Pearsall is now in the Genesee County Jail where he is being held without bail.
Batavia Police are asking for information about these cases or any other abuse involving Pearsall.
A jail population that is aging, more women sent behind bars and the ever-present problem of illicit drugs combine to strain the budget of the Genesee County jail.
The county legislature was told yesterday that maintaining cost controls at the jail has been increasingly difficult. Sheriff William Sheron says a major issue is the transportation of female inmates. Women often are taken to other counties because the Genesee County Jail has no femal facilities.
Sheron says a new jail would alleviate many of the problems. A new jail facility has been talked about for years.
The search for Steve Stephens, who posted to Facebook video of himself murdering an elderly man in Cleveland, ended with the killer taking his own life in Erie, Pennsylvania.
He was spotted yesterday in Erie, the same place where his cellphone was detected hours after Sunday's shooting.
The case put police on alert in several states including law enforcement in Western New York.
A Perry man is accused of eating evidence during a traffic stop on the 390 in Livingston County.
Deputies say 35 year old Kenneth Shearing Junior of Perry was stopped following a complaint that he was driving erratically.
While retrieving his license, deputies said a foil wrapper fell out of Shearing’s wallet.
The deputy asked about the wrapper. It was then, lawmen say, Shearing opened the foil exposing a strip of suboxone and then he swallowed it.
He was arrested for tampering with evidence.
College hockey's national championship is coming to Buffalo.
NCAA officials announced yesterday that the Frozen Four will be played at the KeyBank Center in 2019. It's the first time the hockey semifinals and title game will be played in Buffalo since 2003.
