The County’s Public Service Committee recommended approval of an agreement between the County and Town of Batavia to construct part of the upcoming Ellicott Trail which includes a bridge over some of the wetlands at the DeWitt Recreation Area.

The aluminum bridge will pass north of the lake and lead out to Route 5.

The bridge will cost $85,000 with an additional $30,000 in county labor expenses with funds coming from capital reserves already set aside for park improvements.

80 percent of the cost of the $1.7 million Ellicott Trail project is being covered by a state grant.
