A Batavia man, already in trouble with the law for scamming an elderly woman, is now facing more felony fraud charges.

41-year-old Myron Hartford of Vine Street was
first arrested less than a month ago. A Batavia Police investigation allegedly found that Hartford had tricked a friend out of nearly $60,000.

Now, Myron and his wife Marlene Hartford are both accused of Felony Grand Larceny and Offering a False Instrument for Filing, for illegally receiving food stamps. The Genesee County Department of Social Services found that while Myron was receiving all that money from his elderly victim – he apparently wasn’t reporting the income.

Myron and Marlene allegedly received over $2,500 in food stamp benefits.

They’re both due in court on Monday to answer the charges.
