Soler Leaving City School District

Anibal SolerBatavia City School Superintendent Anibal Soler is leaving.
Soler announcing this morning, in an email to staff obtained by WBTA, that he is about to accept a position as Superintendent of the Schenectady City School District.
Soler joined the Batavia City School District in January of 2020, just weeks before the corona virus shut down the district and the nation.
The Schenectady school district has about four times the number of students as Batavia.
He is stepping into a district facing a nasty dispute between former super Larry Spring. Spring claims he was coerced to resign a year ago based on what he insisted were false accusations of sexual harassment. He’s suing the district for nearly $8-million.
Soler just received a pay raise from Batavia City Schools along with a one-year extension of his contract. He is now making $165,000 a year.
