The motorcyclist who was involved in the death of his teenage passenger at the roundabout on Oak Street in Batavia has now been indicted for felony manslaughter. 27-year-old Christopher Scinta of Buffalo is accused of killing 17-ywear-old Jasmyne Rubel by driving recklessly and causing her to fall off the Kawasaki they were both riding. The 9-count indictment also includes charges of reckless driving, criminal mischief, obstructing governmental administration, obstructing emergency medical personnel, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. On November 4th Scinta allegedly drove his motorcycle over the curb of the roundabout at high speed causing Rubel to be thrown off. He then fought the EMTs and tried to prevent them from helping her before mounting his bike and riding away. After being caught by police he attempted to escape and then damaged the window in the police station in another attempt. Rubel and Scinta were a couple; however, the exact status of their relationship was unknown. She did have a Facebook page with the name Jasmyne Scinta.
What started as a winter weather advisory for Genesee and Orleans Counties is now a Winter Storm Warning until 10pm this evening, that also includes Monroe and Northern Erie Counties. Heavy snow is now expected, with light snow through midday. This afternoon, snowfall rates over 1 inch per hour between 1 and 5 pm are predicted. The heaviest snow will occur from the Buffalo North towns along and north of the Thruway toward Rochester. Snow will change to light rain this evening. Winds could gust as high as 35 miles per hour tonight. Widespread accumulating snow will create dangerous travel conditions. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Wyoming County until 10pm this evening.
Indictments: David Leroy of Corfu has been indicted for criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony. Leroy is accused of knowingly possessing a switchblade knife in the Town of Pembroke. ALSO: Shannon Marvin of Bergen is indicted on a count of grand larceny, a Class E felony. She is accused of stealing a Discover card belonging to another person.

Amherst police are still trying to track down the suspect in a shooting that left one person injured. The 27-year-old victim was hit by gunfire yesterday near the Red Roof Plus Inn, which is located across from the University at Buffalo’s Amherst campus. He was brought to Erie County Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police believe there is no threat to the public.

Mark Trykowski
The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says that a Kenmore man has pleaded guilty to committing a disturbing crime. Prosecutors say 43-year-old Mark Trykowski forcibly engaged in sexual conduct with a woman this past July at a location in Buffalo. Trykowski was linked to the assault using DNA and other evidence. He is facing up to 25 years behind bars when he’s sentenced in March. Trykowski is currently being held without bail.

Police in Rochester are saying crime has hit a milestone. Over 200 cars have been stolen in the city in just the first 25 days of the year with 147 of them in the last 2 weeks. Rochester Police Lieutenant Greg Bello says most of the arrests in the car thefts are minors who are being arrested multiple times and then released. He also says that most of the cars stolen are Hyundais or Kias. He says the City is working with town and village police departments who are also experiencing a rise in car thefts to figure out what they can do to stop main suspects from stealing more cars in the future.

The Buffalo Sabres have extended their winning streak to four games after picking up another victory on the road. Dylan Cozens, Jeff Skinner, Tage Thompson Alex Tuch, and Owen Power scored a goal each as the Sabres beat the Saint Louis Blues five-to-three at the Enterprise Center last night. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was solid in net for Buffalo and stopped 25 of the 28 shots he faced. Buffalo’s next game is tomorrow night when they visit the Winnipeg Jets. Face-off is at 8:00.
