Michael Piasta, the Batavia man convicted of robbing Arby’s on West Main last year, has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison.
Piasta was convicted by a Genesee County Court jury last April of armed robbery. Prosecutors say he held up the fast food restaurant with a fake handgun.
He was also sentenced to 10 years of post-release supervision.
At his sentencing earlier today Piasta’s lawyer asked Judge Charles Zambito for leniency. The defense lawyer said his client had a tough upbringing and was – quote, “dealt a bad hand.”
Zambito reminded Piasta that at a felony sentencing nine years ago he told then County Judge Robert Noonan you were going to straighten out your life and never get into trouble again.
