ATV crash in East Pembroke turns Fatal

The Genesee County Sheriffs Office is continuing investigation into an ATV crash occurring in East Pembroke, New York on May 13, 2018 at about 8:16 p.m. This news release should be considered in addition to the initial news release dated May 13, 2018, concerning the incident. (See Attached)

The operator of the ATV, who has been identified as Robert A. Boyce, age 51, of East Pembroke, New York was transported for treatment of his injuries to ECMC via Mercy Flight. As of May 14, 2018, Mr. Boyce succumbed to his injuries while at ECMC.

At this time, both alcohol use and speed are being considered to be contributing factors into the crash. The investigation is continuing at this time.

Previous Press Release:

The Genesee County 911 Center received a call of a personal injury accident involving an ATV in the area of 8706 Hartshorn Road at approximately 8:16 PM. Once in the area, East Pembroke Fire Department members and Genesee County Sheriffs Deputies located an ATV along with the operator off the west shoulder of Hartshorn Road. Both operator and ATV were approximately 200 yards off the roadway. The operator of the ATV was identified as Robert A. Boyce age 51 of East Pembroke. Boyce is alleged to have been traveling east on a trail along National Grid Power Lines, heading towards Hartshorn Road. Boyce then failed to negotiate a turn, rolling his ATV. Boyce was then transported to ECMC via Mercy Flight for unknown injuries. Assisting at the scene was Mercy Medics and East Pembroke Fire Department. A full investigation as to the cause of the accident will be conducted by Sergeant Andrew Hale, Investigator Christopher Parker, and Deputy Travis Demuth of the Genesee County Sheriffs Office.
