The Batavia City Council has approved a new lease with Batavia Players providing a new home for the community theatre company in the City Centre Mall.
The lease was approved 7 to 1.

Bob Bialkowski
Only Councilman at-large Bob Bialkowski voted no.
He said there were too many inaccuracies in the lease. He also did not feel it is the right business for the city to be in:

Patti Pacino
But Bialkowski was over-ruled.
Ward 2 Councilwoman Patti Pacino said the Batavia Players Theatre would be a magnet to bring people downtown:
Batavia players would pay rent of a dollar per square foot for the first six months, 2-dollars a square foot for the next six months and 4-dollars a square foot after that.
The space was most recently occupied by the Dent Neurological Clinic.
