A Wyoming County man is facing a charge of rape in the first degree.
23 year old Grayson Finnin of Perry is accused of raping and choking a woman at her home yesterday.
Finnin is in the Wyoming County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Governor Cuomo is working on a proposal that would allow the use of marijuana for recreational purposes.
The governor said he’ll announce his plans after talking with leaders from nearby states to come up with what he calls a common framework.
There was an effort to legalize recreational marijuana earlier this year, but there wasn’t enough support in the Legislature.

The Batavia Fire Department has completed investigations into recent fires in the city.
Since August 26, fires on Bank Street, East Ave, Ellicott Street and Garfield have all been determined to be accidental.
The recent fire in the kitchen of the Hawaiian Grill on East Main was ruled accidental due to spontaneous combustion.
The cause of a July 4th fire at 13 Hutchins Street, which sent two people to the hospital, remains under investigation.

The man accused of setting his girlfriend on fire in her Maple Street apartment has been found competent to stand trial.
Plush Dozier of Rochester is charged with arson and attempted murder for the June 2018 fire.
Police said Dozier set the fire stemmed from a domestic incident.

This year’s Walk to end Alzheimer’s raised nearly $40,000dollars in Genesee County.
Over 400 took part in the walk in Batavia last Saturday.
Student athletes from the Byron-Bergen Cal-mum football team, and the girls’ varsity soccer team, contributed more than $900 to the total.
