Record Heat Wave Nearing End
For the last 5 days Genesee County Residents have dealt with the effects of a brutal heat wave. Temperatures have exceeded 90 degrees every day since Monday and with humidity factored in it has often felt like over 100 degrees. This is the first time there has been four consecutive days over 90 degrees in June since 1949.
Fortunately, the record breaking heat is set to come to an end on Sunday when temperatures return to a high of 84 degrees. The humidity will stick around for the weekend but into next week is expected to lower and temperatures in the 70’s are predicted.
Just a couple more days of the extreme heat, then typical WNY summer conditions to return.
Cider Walk Returns to Batavia
On Saturday from 4 PM until 8 PM, Genesee County residents will have a chance to try the best local ciders offered at the annual Batavia Buisness Improvement District Cider Walk.
The walk will start at the Tonawanda Valley Credit Union where attendees will be given a map for the event and a glass for their cider. On the walk you will find various different ciders from local vendors.
Tickets are still available online for just $20, but there is a 300 person limit so act fast. This event is 21+ and no children are allowed.
Recycle Old Electronics for Free on Saturday
Batavia City Assemblyman Steve Hawley announced that this Saturday from 8:30 AM until noon his annual free electronic recylcing event will return.
The event will be held in Batavia at the Genesee County Social Services parking lot. Hawley has partnered with Sunnking Sustainable Solutions to make this event possible. Whether its a old flip phone, or that big ancient box TV sitting in your basement they will accept it all.
