Cleanup Completed at Former Eaton Site in Batavia
Cleanup work has been completed at the former Eaton facility on Clinton Street in Batavia, under New York State’s Brownfield Cleanup Program.
The project, led by CNH Industrial Baumaschinen GmbH with oversight from the Department of Environmental Conservation, removed contaminated soil, treated groundwater, and installed a clean soil cover system to protect public health and the environment.
A Site Management Plan and Environmental Easement are now in place to ensure long-term monitoring and prevent future exposure to any remaining contamination.
Once the Final Engineering Report is approved, DEC will issue a Certificate of Completion, allowing the site to be redeveloped and making CNH eligible for state cleanup tax credits.
The 23-acre site operated as a manufacturing facility from the 1920s to the early 1990s and is now used for warehousing. More information and documents are available on the DEC website under site ID C819022.

GCEDC Highlights Ongoing Public Role in STAMP Environmental Review
The Genesee County Economic Development Center says the environmental review process for the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP) continues to emphasize public participation as developer STREAM U.S. Data Centers considers submitting a new, larger proposal.
If approved, STREAM’s project would represent a multi-billion dollar investment in Genesee County, adding to hundreds of millions already invested and supporting hundreds of permanent jobs.
GCEDC says STAMP’s development has already provided tangible benefits, including public water service for much of the Town of Alabama, nearly $1.9 million in annual payments to local municipalities and schools, $292,000 in land sale proceeds, and infrastructure upgrades such as improvements to Oakfield’s wastewater treatment facility.
All application materials and environmental studies will be available at gcedc.com/projects, and the public will have opportunities to comment and participate through hearings and review periods as the process continues.
