Cheek and Buck Named Genesee Athletes of the Week
BATAVIA, NY… Basketball players Jamir Cheek and Molly Buck were named Genesee Athletes of the Week for the week of March 4.
Jamir Cheek scored 19 points, collected five rebounds and dished out a team-high two assists in Genesee’s 109-73 loss in the WNYAC/NJCAA Region III Division II semi-finals to the eventual Region and Conference champion Erie CC Kats. The men’s basketball team finished the 2018-19 season with an overall record of 15-14.
Molly Buck led Genesee’s offense with 18 points and collecting six rebounds in the WNYAC/NJCAA Region III Division II semifinal contest against the Monroe Community College Tribunes, a game in which the Cougars and Tribunes traded the lead several times throughout, until MCC pulled away to earn a 80-64 victory. The Cougars finish the season with a record of 17-11.
