Genesee Leaves Sunshine State with Winning Record
KISSIMMEE, FL – The Genesee Community College baseball team had a successful spring trip to open the 2019 season, leaving Florida with a 5-3 record.
On Monday, GCC dropped a 3-2 game to NJCAA Division II Southeastern CC (14-3) and a 12-0 contest to Heartland CC (5-1), the No. 6 ranked team in the county.
In the first game, Parker Cole (Bolivar-Richburg) pitched 4.2 innings of 1-hit ball and struck out 10 while walking three. Anthony Kanaval (Dansville) continued his lights-out relief pitching, coaxing his third double-play ball in relief with runners on of the season. Zack Zinck tossed two innings, giving up one hit and striking out two.
For GCC on offense, Deion Rosalia had a RBI single, John Faynor (Lima Christian) had a RBI single Bryant Fontenez singled and Eliel Martinez had two hits, stole two bases and scored both runs
In the second game, Jakob MacLeod struck out four in relief, and Colin Noeth struck out two.
At the plate, in the second game Martinez was 2-for-3 with a stolen base, Jordi Agosto had a RBI single Briann Castillo singled.
Genesee is back in action this weekend with four games in Maryland.
