Speller and McComb named Genesee Athletes of the Week

Men’s basketball player Brandon Speller and women’s basketball player Grace McComb were named Genesee Athletes of the Week for the week of February 11.
Brandon Speller has earned the Male Athlete of the Week honor for the second time this season. Speller scored 15 points and added nine rebounds in the game against nationally-ranked Erie Community College on February 9. He scored 10 points and earned three rebounds and added an assist in the Cougars road win at Jamestown CC.
Like Speller, Grace McComb has earned her second Genesee Female Athlete of the Week recognition of the season. In the Cougars road win at Jamestown, McComb scored a team-high 19 points with six steals and three assists. In Genesee’s home win against Erie, McComb had a team-high nine assists to go with her five points and four rebounds.
Both basketball teams are in action this week for two key Western New York Athletic Conference contests. Wednesday will see the Cougars travel to Sanborn to take on the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves in a doubleheader starting at 5:30pm with the men following at 7:30pm. Saturday, the Cougars travel to Monroe Community College to play the Tribunes starting at 1:00pm. Men’s basketball are home on Sunday, February 17 at 1pm as they host Bryant & Stratton College (Buffalo).
