GCC Athletics Update: Men’s Soccer

Men’s Soccer team joined by the Carpenter Family after their victory Sunday against North Country Community College

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee men’s soccer team won their first two games of the season over the weekend by defeating Clinton Community College 10-1 Saturday, and then defeating North Country Community College 12-1 on Sunday afternoon.
In the contest against the Clinton Community College Cougars, Genesee got on the board early with a Vitor Chriguer de Goes Vieiera tally less than seven minutes in. The Blue and Gold added four more goals; including a pair from Ed Port, Hiago Barros De Souza, and Ollie Ardle before the end of the opening half. Barros De Souza would get his second of the match early in the second half to increase the Cougars lead. Barros De Souza would add his third of the game just two minutes later. Jose Manoel Cavalini would score two goals as well for Genesee. Adrian Bergman, Marcus Kenline split time in net for Genesee to record the victory.
On Sunday, the men’s soccer team defeated North Country Community College 12-1 to improve their record to 2-0 on the season. The contest against the Saints was in honor and memory of Andie Carpenter, who suddenly passed away. Ollie Ardle would score three goals to propel the Cougars offense. Hiago Barros de Souza, Vitor Chriguer de Goes Vieiera, and Ed Port would each score two goals each. Cameron Logan, Jose Manoel Cavalini, and Futa Kubo would score a goal each for the Blue and Gold. Cameron Logan would add two assists, as did Ed Port, and Shahin Tahir Nasabi. Hiago Barros de Souza, Nils Guenther, Peter Rystad would add an assist each. Adrian Bergman made three saves to earn the victory, his second of the season.
The nationally ranked men’s soccer team returns home on Saturday, August 31 against Mohawk Valley Community College. Gametime is scheduled for 3pm. The game will be streamed live on www.geneseeathletics.com.
