Genesee Picks Up Road Win at Mohawk Valley
UTICA, NY – The Genesee Community College women’s lacrosse team earned their first win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks 22-3.
The Cougars (1-2) got on the board quickly and often throughout their contest at Proctor Stadium in Utica. Hannah Kirisits led the way offensively for Genesee with four goals and two assists. Ashley Barclay continued her strong play with recording a hat trick and adding four assists. Bri Heers, Riley Marconi, Leah Czechowski, and Rachel Ladd all recorded hat tricks. Olivia Clingerman scored a goal and an assist as did Lauren Hull. Allison Becker also scored a goal. Jenny Yuhnke dished out three assists.
Ryley O’Mara made four saves in net for Genesee. Solid defensive play by the Cougars made it troublesome for the Hawks to have offensive pressure.
Genesee is back in action on Wednesday afternoon at Erie Community College. Faceoff is scheduled for 4pm.
