A Batavia woman is charged with a felony count of assault following a knife attack.
24-year-old Shacerie Rivera is accused of cutting another person on the arm causing a series injury. Rivera was arraigned on assault and weapons charges and then released under supervision of Genesee Justice.
Police did not disclose where the incident happened.
New York state health officials say numbers of COVID-19 cases as well as the positivity rate across the region are rising.
They say the western region’s seven-day average for positive tests has risen to 1.36% — while it was just under .5% point two weeks ago.
In the Finger Lakes region – which includes Genesee County – the positivity rate is .96% — up from .63% percent two weeks ago.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed a sweeping package of voting reforms into law. The reforms he says will help voters, candidates and boards of elections more easily perform their functions. A few of the reforms include eliminating signed absentee ballot applications and allowing absentee ballots postmarked by Election Day to be considered timely; Allowing voters to request absentee ballots through electronic means and allowing candidates who have lost primaries to be removed from ballots as candidates for different parties.
