Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties are under a wind advisory till 9pm.  Winds are expected to blow out of the southwest at 25-35 miles per hour.  Gusts can be up to 50 miles per hour.  Combined with the blowing snow this could result in reduced visibility, whiteouts on the roads and objects being blown around.  Tree limbs may fall on power lines causing outages.  

11 counties were in a state of emergency over the weekend for a snowstorm that had very different effects on different areas.  Rochester got less than an inch in places while areas of Buffalo got over 6 feet.  Orchard Park near the Bills stadium got 77 inches.  Batavia got over 2 feet in places.  LeRoy got 9 inches.  Warsaw got walloped with over 5 feet.  First responders went to the Buffalo area from several counties to help with the storm.  Batavia town and city fire, oakfield fire, east pembroke fire and corfu fire all traveled into the city to work 12 hour shifts. 

Batavia drivers are handing over just a little bit less of their money to fill up their vehicles these days. According to Triple A, the average cost for a gallon of regular fuel is now sitting at three-76. That is down two cents from last week but is still eight cents higher than this time one month ago. The state average is currently three-86 and nationally it’s three-67.

Governor Hochul is seeking resources from the federal government to help with the winter storm that hit over the weekend.  Once approved, the Emergency Declaration will provide immediate federal funding to impacted counties to support ongoing response and rescue operations. Governor Hochul will also ask the federal Small Business Administration to evaluate how it can help small businesses impacted by the storm in the 11 counties and contiguous counties.  Prior to the arrival of lake effect snow on Thursday, Governor Hochul declared a State of Emergency for 11 counties and contiguous counties, which remains in place.

The Bills staved off a late comeback effort from the Browns and snapped their two-game losing streak with a 31-23 victory in Detroit.  The Browns scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to set up an onside kick attempt, which they failed to recover.  The Bills improved to 7-and-3 and are now tied with the Dolphins for first place in the division.   The game was moved to Ford Field as Buffalo dealt with a major snowstorm.  The Bills go back to Detroit for the Thanksgiving game on Thursday.

The Sabres were handed their 8th straight loss on Saturday night by the Maple Leafs 5 to 2.  Alex Tuch and Casey Middlestadt scored and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 18 saves for Buffalo.  Buffalo is now number 7 in the Eastern Atlantic Division with only Ottawa below them.  They have 7 wins and 11 losses as they go next to face the Montreal Canadiens in Montreal.  Puck drop is 7pm on Tuesday.
