There is a wind advisory in effect till 7pm for Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming Counties. Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 50 to 55 mph expected. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few isolated power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
The Rochester Police Department is giving out free steering wheel locks to Kia and Hyundai owners who live in the city. It comes as police say 450 Kias and Hyundais have been stolen in the city in the last year, as videos have circulated on social media nationwide showing how to steal the cars. There is hope for the car owners as Kia and Hyundai are offering a free software patch that they say will make it harder to steal their vehicles. The patch will be installed free of charge on vulnerable models, witThe software will also block the car from being started after the doors have been locked using the key fob remote control.h software that requires an actual key in the ignition to turn the vehicle on. Hyundai dealers will also affix window stickers stating that the vehicle has anti-theft software installed.
31-year-old Cassandra Elmore of Batavia has been arrested on two bench warrants. The first was in connection with her failure to appear in court following arrest for several charges, including criminal possession of a weapon. The second was in reference to obstructing governmental administration. Elmore has failed to appear for court at least a half dozen times. Many of them associated with her dog, Oddey, having eaten cocaine. She was arraigned in Batavia City Court, is being held at the Genesee County Jail and is scheduled to return to court on March 2nd.
Tuesday marked the end of an era at Rochester’s baseball stadium. “Frontier Field” signage is coming, replaced by “Innovative Field” as the name of the venue that the Rochester Red Wings call home. Two signs on the marquee overlooking Interstate 490 were replaced Tuesday. By opening day, March 31, all signage will be changed over at the ballpark. The Wings have played at the stadium since 1997. Henrietta-based Innovative Data Processing Solutions recently took over the stadium’s naming rights.
