State Police report the death of a Bergen resident after his parachute became tangled in a skydiving accident.
Troopers based out of Warsaw responded to a cornfield off Soper Road in Perry for a skydiving accident Saturday just a few minutes after noon.
Officers located the victim, 68 year old Richard Cordaro of Bergen, and immediately attempted life saving measures, however Cordaro was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Further investigation revealed that Cordaro who had over 45 years of skydiving experience flew out of the Perry/Warsaw airport that morning with three others employing the Rochester Skydivers company.
All four individuals jumped from the plane with the other three landing safely.
According to investigators Cordaro’s parachute opened normally but then became tangled.

Frederick Rarick, defense attorney for accused murderer Richard Hanes, intends to call witnesses to the stand today.
His defendant Hanes is on trial for allegedly beating Ray Morgan to death at his Liberty Street apartment last July.
Rarick plans to call Hanes’s mother and father along with three individuals connected to the Liberty Street address where Morgan was killed.
Hanes is not expected to testify in the case.
It is expected that District Attorney Lawrence Friedman will call Detective Sergeant Kevin Czora, to attest to his investigation as the last witness for the People.
Witness testimony begins at 9 this morning and once both sides rest, jurors will hear summations and elements of the second-degree murder charge before entering deliberations.
Hanes faces a life sentence if found guilty and the trail is anticipated to continue into Wednesday according to observers.

Police seeking eyewitness to a rollover accident on Liberty Street at East Main.
The Batavia Police Department is seeking assistance from the community to provide information a two-car roll-over accident at the intersection of East Main and Liberty Street at around 1:50 p.m. on Saturday July 27th.
Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to please contact Sgt. Dan Coffey at 345-6352 with any information or to call the confidential tip line at 345-6370.

Warsaw man jailed following a domestic incident with a knife.
Troopers out of Warsaw arrested 33 year old David Snyder for Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Menacing, Unlawful Imprisonment and Assault after responding to a domestic complaint on State Route 19 in Warsaw.
Snyder is accused of choking and menacing a female victim with a knife.
Snyder was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail on $10,000 bail and an order of protection was issued to the victim.
He is expected to return to Warsaw Town Court at a later date.

Holland Ave man jailed on multiple counts after fighting with a family member.
21 year old Kiha McNear was arrested after allegedly violating an order of protection and illegally entering a home on Walnut Street where he got into a physical fight with a family member.
He is facing two counts of first degree Criminal Contempt, counts of Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Harassment and was remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Effective today there will be a single lane closure on Creek Road at the intersection of Cook Road for bridge painting.
There will be a temporary traffic light at the intersection.
The closure will last approximately 2 weeks and the Genesee County Highway Department will notify residents when the road reopens.
