Gov. Andrew Cuomo
Governor Cuomo may be facing Republican leaders from Western New York in court over reports of a special election date for the 27th Congressional District seat.
The Buffalo News reports that GOP officials are upset the governor has yet to set a date for a special election to fill the seat of ex-Republican Congressman Chris Collins.
The Governor has reportedly hinted that the election could be held on April 28th when New York holds its presidential primary.
The Republican leadership is saying they may ask a judge to have Governor Cuomo order an earlier date as the April 28th date would put them at a disadvantage since a large number of registered Democrats will likely be at the polls.
There has been no representation for the 27th District since Collins stepped down after pleading guilty to federal insider trading charges.
