Gov. Cuomo says COVID-related hospitalizations in the Empire State dropped down to 371. That’s the lowest number the state has had since the beginning of the pandemic. Throughout the state, the 7-day average positivity rate of COVID-19 is 0.36%.

A man faces felony and other counts stemming from a domestic dispute in the Town of Alabama. Sheriff’s deputies say they arrested 19-year-old Ray Saile of Judge Road. He was charged with felony assault, first-degree criminal contempt and harassment. Deputies allege Saile back-handed a person who had a stay-away order of protection. He also allegedly caused physical injury to another victim who was 65 or older. He was arraigned in Alabama Town Court and released under supervision. He’ll return to court July 20th.

A neighbor dispute led to the arrest of 61-year-old Thomas Tacito of Batavia. Police said he allegedly slashed all four tires and smashed out the windows of a neighbors vehicle. He was charged with felony criminal mischief and will appear in court July 6th.

The Batavia Police Department has announced that it has joined the nationwide OffenderWatch sex offender registry network. This enables collaboration on investigations and sharing of critical information involving registered sex offenders with more than 4,000 other local law enforcement agencies across the country. In addition, residents of Batavia can use the Batavia Police Department’s website to search for sex offenders residing in their neighborhood and subscribe to receive email alerts from the Batavia Police Department. A court appearance is pending for a Batavia man after he was pulled over in the Town of Shelby. State Troopers charged 37-year-old Brandon Stafford with criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated.

Johnson & Johnson has agreed to pay $230 million to New York state to settle claims that the pharmaceutical giant helped fuel the opioid crisis…that announcement was made over the weekend by Attorney General Letitia James. The drugmaker also agreed to permanently end the manufacturing and distribution of opioids across New York and the rest of the nation.
