15 year sentence handed down for Thorpe Street Shooting.
For the next 15 years, 25 year old Tyshawn King will be behind bars in state prison.
King of Maple Street in the city was sentenced in Genesee County Court on Friday for shooting another man on Thorpe Street last September.
King was apprehended without incident after Police found a male victim who had gunshot wounds in his hand and abdomen.
They were responding to a reported fight near Thorpe and Maple Streets where a gunshot was also heard.
In February King pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon and he is now serving a 15 year prison sentence along with 5 years post-release supervision.
Truck driver injured in Big Rig Rollover accident in Batavia.
One person was reportedly injured in a tractor-trailer rollover accident yesterday afternoon at Batavia-Elba Town Line Road, west of Route 98.
Town of Batavia Fire and Mercy medics were called to the scene and the truck driver was transported via ground ambulance to Strong Hospital for evaluation.
Some of the 8,000 pounds of O-AT-KA dairy-processing byproduct that the trailer was hauling spilled out.
The organic material was on its way to local farms to be used as feed or fertilizer.
A heavy wrecker tow had to be called in to haul the big rig away.
No other vehicles were involved and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Executive Director honored as Woman of Distinction.
Senator Michael Ranzenhofer has recognized the Cooperative’s Executive Director Beverly Mancuso, as a Woman of Distinction at the 21st annual ceremony.
Mancuso has served at the Cornell Cooperative Extension in Genesee County for 16 years, 13 years as Executive Director.
She is expected to retire from as director in June.
Darien Lake is opening a new roller coaster very soon.
The ride is called Tantrum and while it won’t be the fastest in the park, it will be the only ride with a heart pounding semi-inverted drop.
Tantrum is the theme park’s first new roller coaster in a decade.
Darien Lake opens this weekend but Tantrum isn’t expected to open until later this month.
Kim Pegula is now one of the most powerful women in American sports.
This week she took over as president of the Buffalo Bills and the Sabres after Russ Brandon resigned amid misconduct allegations.
Pegula is the first female president of an NFL team and the only female NHL president.
