Celebrate Agriculture Dinner Returns March 14 in Alexander
Plans are well underway for the 22nd Annual Celebrate Agriculture Dinner, set for Saturday, March 14, at 5 p.m. at the Alexander Fire Hall.
The event celebrates Genesee County’s number-one industry — agriculture — and features a full meal prepared entirely with locally sourced food and products from county farms and agri-businesses. The dinner is open to the public.
Tickets are available online through Genesee County Chamber of Commerce at GeneseeNY dot com. Tickets are forty dollars each, or three hundred dollars for a table of eight. Each ticket includes a five-dollar donation to support the Genesee County 4-H program.
Only four hundred tickets will be sold, with online registration required. Tickets must be purchased by March 6. Sponsorships are also available to support agricultural education throughout the county.
The event is coordinated by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County, the Genesee County Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Genesee County Farm Bureau.
More information is available on the Chamber’s event webpage.

Batavia police, city firefighters, and Mercy ALS responded to a two-vehicle crash late Monday morning on Vine Street.
The accident was reported around 10 a.m. at 221 Vine Street, between Evergreen and North Streets. Initial reports indicate the crash may have begun as a road rage incident.
One person reported back pain after being rear-ended. No word yet on the extent of injuries.
Police are investigating the incident, and traffic was slowed in the area during the response.
Woman Charged After Stabbing on Brockport Main Street
A stabbing on Brockport’s Main Street Friday night has led to the arrest of a 73-year-old woman.
Police say officers responded to the area for a reported domestic incident that escalated into a stabbing. When they arrived, they found a 48-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen.
The victim was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. His current condition has not been released.
Police identified the suspect as Bertha Kelley, who was charged with first-degree assault. Authorities say Kelley was released to pre-trial services following her arraignment.
No additional details about the incident have been made public, and the investigation is ongoing.

More information is available through the Genesee County Youth Bureau.
U.S. Reduces List of Recommended Childhood Vaccines
The federal government has scaled back the number of vaccines it officially recommends for all children, leaving some shots — including the flu vaccine — as optional choices for families.
Officials say the change will not affect access or insurance coverage. But many medical experts warn it could lower vaccination rates and increase the risk of preventable diseases.
The move follows a review ordered by President Donald Trump, with the Department of Health and Human Services saying the U.S. had recommended more vaccines than many peer nations.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says the update is meant to rebuild trust in public health. Doctors and public health experts strongly disagree, warning children could be put at risk.
