Two Arrested for Driving on Sidewalk at Darien Lake

State Police arrested two people on Sunday following a complaint of a car driving on a pedestrian walkway at Darien Lake.

Michael V. Mathews, 24 of Ontario, NY was arrested for driving while intoxicated, obstruction of governmental administration 2nd degree, resisting arrest, and numerous traffic tickets. Troopers also arrested passenger Hannah Schreiber, 24 of Palmyra NY for obstruction of governmental administration 2nd degree, and disorderly conduct.

Troopers located and stopped Mathews in the Darien Lake parking lot on State Route 77 in the town of Darien. While speaking to Mathews Troopers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Troopers said Mathews and Schreiber became uncooperative, did not comply with verbal commands and physically resisted them. Both were arrested and taken to SP Batavia for processing.

Mathews refused a chemical test and was arraigned in the town of Darien Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail on $500 cash $1,000 bond. He is to return to the town of Darien Court in June 2018. Schreiber was processed and issued an appearance ticket to the town of Darien Court for June 2018.
