Violence Spurs Councilwoman to Arrange Ward Meeting

Councilwoman Kathy Briggs will be holding a 5th Ward meeting on Thursday, May 31st.
The meeting will be regarding the recent rash of violent events in the 5th ward area of Central Avenue and Jackson Street.

Briggs said she has encouraged her constituents to report disturbances to police and has reported a number of suspicious incidents herself, however after last week’s fatal stabbing she decided a community meeting was in order.
She contacted Police Chief Shawn Heubusch who was apparently thinking the same thing and agreed to attend the meeting.
Briggs believes that the community members need to be informed about reporting incidents and to encourage them to take back their community
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday May 31st at 6PM at the St. Anthony’s Community Center conference room on Liberty Street.
