Genesee County Opens 3 Cooling Centers Starting Wednesday
The Genesee County Emergency Management Services announced that with the current heat wave that is only going to get worse the next 2 days, they are opening 3 cooling centers in Genesee County.
The cooling centrs are located at the Byron Bergen Public Library, the Genesee County Office for the Aging in Batavia and the Grace Baptist Church in Batavia. All of these locations will be open Wednesday through Friday during the peak heat hours of 1 PM until 4:30 PM.
If you have find the heat is too much to handle, do not hesitate to cool down in one of these safe havens.
Narcan Administered in Pembroke Accident
Video News Service reports, that late Monday evening around 11 PM Pembroke Fire and Mercy Flight responded to a accident.
The accident involved a vehicle crashing into a guardrail with an unresponsive man who was aged around 40-50 years old. After investigating the scene, the first responders adminstered narcan to the man who then started to become responsive.
At this time the identity of the man and the extent of his injuries are unknown. Police have yet to announce what charges, if any the man will face.
All New York State Parks to Have NO Admission Fee Wednesday and Thursday
On Tuesday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that all State Parks in New York will have free admission both Wednesday and Friday in a effort to help New Yorkers combat the current heat wave.
This includes Letchworth State Park, the Ontario Beach State Park in Rochester and Woodlawn Beach State Park in Buffalo. The Woodlawn Beach State Park has opened their beach early this year to accomodate the Govenor’s request.
Governor Hochul said, “I encourage everyone to take advantage of free and early admission to our world class beaches, pools and other State Park sites to beat the heat as we expect record temperatures across the state.”
