Genesee County Sheriff’s Department Responds to Incident at Darien Lake
It was a chaotic scene outside Six Flags Darien Lake Sunday night, May 26th, as the Genesee County Sheriffs Office responded to a disturbance just after 7:44 p.m., shortly after the park had closed.
Authorities say several groups had gathered near the main entrance when two separate fights broke out, each involving two individuals. The growing crowd prompted Deputies already on-site to call for backup.
After initial attempts to break up the crowd failed, officers deployed pepperball guns to disperse the gathering and restore order.
Once the situation was under control, it was determined that all individuals involved were juveniles. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and no charges are being filed.
Assisting in the response were the Batavia and Corfu Police Departments, New York State Police, and the Erie County Sheriffs Office.
False Shooting Reported in Le Roy
A false shooting report in LeRoy prompted a swift police response Monday morning. Around 9 a.m., a woman claimed there had been a shooting at a local business and sought shelter at a nearby church, where staff called 911.
LeRoy Police quickly secured the area and determined no shooting had occurred and no injuries were reported. The woman appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Her vehicle was later found on Bacon Street, where officers discovered a large amount of white powder.
With help from New York State Police, the substance was tested and secured. The woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation, and the investigation is ongoing.
Thanks were extended to Trooper Marinaro, LeRoy EMS, Officer Smith, and Detective Vangalio for their roles in the response.

Rope rescue teams from Yates and Ontario counties responded, and both teens were airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital as a precaution. The rescue lasted into the evening due to wet and muddy terrain.
