A multiple vehicle accident on the New York State Thruway Tuesday afternoon killed one person, injured several others and stranded motorists for hours.
The accident happened in the eastbound lane between Exit 49 (Depew) and Exit 48A (Pembroke).
Initial reports stated 75 vehicles were involved. The figured was later reduced by State Police to about 25.
The accident blocked all eastbound lanes and backed up traffic in each direction for several mils.
Authorities later closed the Thruway to westbound traffic at the Pembroke interchange.

An Oakfield man indicted on a dozen counts of domestic abuse.
27 year old Michael Shelter of Judge Road is accused of beating and strangling a woman on several occasions over a one week period in November.
Authorities some of the incidents of abuse occurred in front of a child.

A 3-year old Wyoming County boy is continues to recover at Oshei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo after he accidentally shot himself over the weekend.
The incident happened Monday in the boy’s home on Tooley Road in Bennington.
A 45-caliber handgun was left loaded in the living room when the toddler, apparently playing with the gun, shot himself in the shoulder.
The gun was registered to the boy’s father.

UMMC is imposing visitor restrictions due to an increase in the flu.
Effective tomorrow visitors will be restricted to no more than two people per patient at a time; all visitors must be 14 years old and you are asked not to visit a patient if you feel ill or have flu like symptoms.

CBS will air the Bills-Jaguars playoff game.
