A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Genesee County this afternoon.
After isolated thunderstorms this morning, thunderstorms are expected
to increase across the area again by this afternoon. Stronger
thunderstorms today will be capable of producing gusty winds and
heavy rainfall and small hail. There is a marginal risk of severe
storms, especially from the Southern Tier to the western Finger
Lakes.
The cost of a gallon of gasoline in Batavia is up 4-cents in just one week.
The here is now $3.14 a gallon.
The Triple A expects crude oil prices to continue their upward trend…and in turn gas prices …through the end of summer.
A year ago, gasoline prices in Batavia hovered around $2.25 a gallon.
Batavia police report the arrest of 46-year-old Melton Chisom. – who has no local address…is charged with felony second-degree assault, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Menacing. Police say that Chisom engaged in a physical altercation with another person and held a knife to the victim’s face causing injury which required stitches. He is in jail without bail.
State officials are urging people not to get complacent in the ongoing battle against COVID-19. Currently the positivity rate Genesee County is point-1 percent.
Nearly 73-percent of Empire State residents 18 and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine while 66-percent of that age group is fully immunized.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the process of easing COVID-19 restrictions at the country’s border is finally underway. Trudeau announced yesterday that fully vaccinated residents will no longer have to quarantine for several days after they come back to Canada.
However, this change does not impact fully vaccinated U.S. residents. Trudeau is hoping to roll out the next steps of the border’s reopening in the coming weeks.
