It’s Christmas Eve, and folks traveling out of Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport today should be prepared for lines.   The holiday rush started yesterday and many people said backups at gates and security checkpoints were common.   The TSA recommends getting to the airport at least two hours before your flight so you can get through security in enough time. The TSA says 40 million passengers nationwide will be screened between December 19th and January 2nd.

Governor Hochul has signed off on a new bill aimed at making home heating aid more accessible to seniors. Through the Elderly Pharmaceutical Coverage Program, folks will also be provided information and instructions on how to apply for HEAP. HEAP is a federal program that helps low-income homeowners and renters cover the costs of both heating and cooling. Anyone interested in signing up can head to ny.gov or reach out to the Genesee County Office for the Aging by calling 343-1611.

A 61-year-old man is in stable condition after receiving life-saving CPR at the Bills game on Sunday. Officials say a first-aid call came in for a man on a stairway in the stadium during the first half of the game. Responders from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and AMR quickly arrived and found the man without a pulse. Three reserve deputies and a good Samaritan administered CPR for about five minutes before medical crews used an AED. The man’s pulse returned after the second shock. The man is currently at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo.

Sabres fans can finally celebrate as the team has ended its 13-game skid in last night’s 7-1 win over the New York Islanders. The Sabres scored two goals in the first period, three goals in the second and one goal in the third to pull away from the Islanders. Buffalo had gone 0-10-and-3 in their last 13 games, with their last win coming on November 23rd against the San Jose Sharks. The Sabres will host the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.
