The results are in and to answer your burning question, a hotdog counts as a sandwich. RTA Outdoor Living conducted a survey of over 1000 people from coast to coast on their preferences about barbeque, pizza and summer foods. 57 percent of respondents say a hotdog is a sandwich, 15 percent said that cheese goes under the burger on a cheeseburger, 2/3rds of respondents prefer drumsticks over flats when it comes to chicken wings, and 63 percent of people prefer boneless. Only 10 percent of people think you should cut pizza into squares but 18 percent of people use a fork and knife to eat pizza. And for grill enthusiasts hotdogs are best done on the grill by 57 percent and burgers are best done medium according to 40 percent of Americans. Although more women prefer well done. If you are traveling this summer and want to get a good rate on lodgings airbnbs may be pretty appealing. But the Better Business Bureau warns that there are potential pitfalls of renting from private owners and to watch out for scams. One Penfield father wanted to take his family on vacation. After arriving at their Airbnb in Saratoga Springs, they found holes in the walls, filthy floors and broken fixtures. Because they didn’t take pictures the owner was able to charge the family for damages totaling over 1500 dollars. The BBB says to always record the state that a rental is in before you get settled and to report any problems to Airbnb as soon as you notice them. In this situation the family had no documentation and the host had pictures and invoices so the family was on the hook for everything.
The MLB All Star Game in Denver later this month will feature a Buffalo native, Jesse Winker. The Cincinnati Reds outfielder is having a career year hitting 19 home runs and 48 RBI while batting .322 with a .987 OPS. Jesse Winker who was born in Buffalo and raised in Florida is a Buffalo Bills fan. He was one of three outfielders voted to start in the All-Star Game for the National League.
On the other side of the All Star Game in the American League 3 Toronto Blue Jays players have been selected for the starting lineup. Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Marcus Semien will start at first base and second base for the American League, respectively. Teoscar Hernandez will start in the outfield as well.
Go Art in Batavia is hosting Jazz Musician and artist Sean Madden with his quartet FlashBamPow on July the 9th from 7:30-9:30pm. FlashBamPow is known as a highly expressive band that often employs surreal video and art in their live shows. The art is mostly created by Sean Madden, who is also an award-winning artist. A quote from their website best sums up who they are: “We come on time, set up, blow everyone’s minds and leave.” Go Art has a bar and tables for seating. Refreshments will be served.
