Longtime Owner of the ever popular Pok-A-Dot passes.
Batavia has lost a local legend of the restaurant game.
Co-owner of the Pok-A-Dot Restaurant in Batavia, Philip Pastore Jr., the passed away on Tuesday at the age of 93.
Pastore died peacefully at the United Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He opened the restaurant with the late Joseph “Trigger” Marone in 1953 at its storied Ellicott Street location.
The Pok a dot was not only a hit with locals but continues to draw in visitors from near and far to try its famous Beef on Week which has steadily stayed the signature dish over the decades.
The Gilmartin Funeral home is currently handling arrangements for the family.
East Main Street man Jailed for on sex abuse charges.
City Police have arrested 50 year old Thomas Brenkaus of Batavia on charges of First degree Sex Abuse and Forcible Touching following investigation into an incident that allegedly occurred late last month at an East Main Street address.
According to authorities he allegedly forcibly touched a female acquaintance for sexual gratification.
Brenkaus was jailed in Genesee County without bail.
Disturbance on Dellinger Ave lands resident behind bars.
25 year old Darien Rhodes of Dellinger Ave in Batavia was arrested on a litany of charges following a reported domestic dispute last Thursday.
He is facing charges of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Unlawful Imprisonment, Menacing, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon along with drug possession.
Rhodes was ordered to be held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Scuffle on South Swan Street leads to lock up.
31 year old Thomas Griffin the second of Batavia is accused of attempting to take a child out of the arms of another individual before striking the same victim in the face.
He was jailed on $2,500 bail on charges of Harassment and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer is calling for immediate hearings on President Trump’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On the Senate floor yesterday, Schumer called the meeting disastrous.
He argued that Putin could not have scripted it better.
Trump is facing broad, bipartisan criticism after the summit.
Schumer said Trump’s comments at a joint news conference were naive and weak.
He called on Republicans to step-up and start holding Trump accountable.
The Muckdogs win while away against the Crosscutters.
Batavia broke a four game losing streak while at Williamsport last night with a final score of 7 to 5.
The team continues tonight and tomorrow against the Crosscutters before returning home to Dwyer Stadium Friday to start another series against Mahoning Valley.
