A Town of Batavia woman, charged with overdriving and torturing her dog, has shown up in court represented by a State Senator.
56 year old Becky Frens appeared in Town of Batavia court yesterday with her lawyer, State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer, who maintains a private practice in Batavia.
Frens was arrested by State Police earlier this month when she attempted to retrieve her dog Maya that was turned over to the Genesee county Animal Shelter.
Animal Control Officer Ann Marie Brady describes the condition of the dog that is still being treated:
Ranzenhofer asked for and received a delay in the case.
Meanwhile Maya remains in the care of Volunteers for Animals.
An Oakfield man was hit by his own car, in his own driveway, on Drake St.
The door of the vehicle was left open and the man suffered cuts to his abdomen as the car moved backwards.
He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Rochester police say they took 20 people into custody following the city’s Puerto Rican Festival.
The department says most of the arrests Sunday were for traffic or alcohol related crimes.
Some officers said they had things like rocks and bottles thrown at them. No serious injuries were reported.
Cattaraugus County Deputies have identified the hiker killed following a fall at Zoar Valley.
Investigators say 20-year-old Conor Long from the Erie County Town of Boston was hiking with three friends Sunday afternoon.
When he tried to climb along a waterfall to take a picture, he slipped and fell about 70 feet into a gorge.
The Batavia Muckdogs drop another road game.
The Dogs were shut out by the State College Spikes 3-0 last night.
The same two teams meet again tonight.
The Dogs return home on Thursday night.
