New city manager in Batavia makes his initial introduction.
Newly named Batavia City Manager Dr. Martin Moore made his first appearance in front of media through a video chat at City Hall.
Dr. Moore, who prefers to be called Marty focused on transparency in his first impression with local leaders and reporters.
He spoke to local leaders and reporters yesterday afternoon via Skype from his office in Eunice, New Mexico where he is current city manager.
Moore’s wife Joanne was born in Buffalo and he has raised seven children, the youngest of which is a senior in high school.
Moore said even though he might have been hired by the city council, he believes he is answerable to the people…
Dr. Moore begins his new job in Batavia on October 15th.
Some good news rolling in from a research group regarding Republican foothold on the 27th Congressional District.
According to Ohio-based Clout Research, the seat will probably remain as a GOP strong-hold on Election Day.
Republican Chairs in Western New York have yet to name a new nominee following the decision by incumbent Congressman Chris Collins to suspend his bid for re-election.
Whoever ends up on the ballot will take on Democrat Nate McMurray in November.
Muckdogs beat by Black Bears.
Batavia was shutout by West Virginia in last night’s game at Dwyer Stadium with a final score of 2 to 0.
The dogs get another shot to tie up the two game series tonight with a first pitch scheduled at 7:05 in Batavia.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is getting criticized by challengers looking to take his job.
Speaking at a bill signing event in New York City, Cuomo said, “We’re not going to make America great again – it was never that great.”
Cynthia Nixon, who’s facing Cuomo in next month’s Democratic primary, said the governor’s words show he’s out-of-touch.
Republican candidate for governor Marc Molinaro issued a statement shortly after Cuomo’s event saying even with imperfections, America has always been great, and Cuomo owes the nation an apology.
The governor made the comment while criticizing the President’s policies on women’s reproductive rights and immigrants.
Road work continues throughout the city.
Cold milling operations are picking up on Tracy Avenue today between Washington and North.
There will be construction delays and lane reductions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Liberty Street will also be closed to all through traffic from Central to Pringle Ave today for a street repair. Work is expected to start a 8 this morning.
Tomorrow paving operations are expected to move to Vine Street between Main and Bank Street and Bank Street to East Main Street on Saturday, depending on the weather.
Paving on Friday and Saturday is scheduled to occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
