Collins Will Stay on Ballot

Written by on September 17, 2018

Republican Congressman Chris Collins will reportedly stay on the November ballot in spite of his indictment on insider trading charges.
The Buffalo News first reported today that Collins, who represents much of Western New York including Genesee County, has decided to take his lawyers’ advice and keep his name on the ballot.
Genesee County GOP Chairman Richard Seibert was surprised by the turn of events:

Collins had announced last month that he would not run for re-election and even agreed to cooperate with GOP leaders to remove his name. Traditionally, the only way to remove a candidate’s name is if they die, move to another state or are nominated for a different office.
