P.W. Minor now owned by Tidewater and Associates out of Delaware has announced that 45 full-time workers in their Batavia factory are being laid off along with a so called restructuring of operations.
In a statement released yesterday afternoon the 150 year old company said that it will focus its attention on the orthopedic and diabetic footwear where the market appears to be growing.
40 employees are be retained and will head back to work on Monday.
The company says in an effort to find jobs for their displaced workforce it has reached out to other local employers.
P.W. Minor has gone through two ownership changes in the past four years.
Officials from P.W. Minor declined to be interviewed about the release.

Suspect accused of drug related killing in Hamlin double homicide.
19 year old Mason Earle of Hamlin is accused of shooting and killing Alexander Burrow and Bruce Kane. The bodies of the two young men were found earlier this month in a burned out vehicle behind a business on King Street in Hamlin.
Authorities said the killings were apparently drug related.
Earle is charged with two counts of murder and is now in the Monroe County Jail without bail.

Jackson Primary student spurs City School officials to review procedures.
The Batavia City School District reports that a first-grade student at Jackson Primary School left the building and started walking home Thursday.
School officials immediately instituted their Emergency Procedures and contacted the police and the child was located shortly thereafter and was returned safely to school.
The District immediately reviewed its procedures to determine how this incident occurred and have made the necessary changes.
The School said student safety is the top priority and they will always take the appropriate measures to protect them.

State DOT officials release statement saying they have reached an agreement over illegal I Love New York signs.
In a statement from DOT Commissioner Paul Karas and Director Matthew Driscoll, they say the DOT has reached an agreement with the Federal Highway Administration to launch an innovative experimental project to allow tourism signage to highlight cultural, historic, and other significant state attractions off the highway system.
They say this is a win-win for all parties and that this agreement resolves the preexisting matter between the state and the federal government and that the state will continue to receive all federal highway aid.
DOT officials did not mention if any signs would be taken down in the statement and said the DOT will submit a final plan on this new project in the coming months.

For the second week in a row, the Buffalo Bills are heading into a tough environment on the road.
They’re traveling to Green Bay this weekend to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
Led by rookie quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills pulled off a big upset against the Minnesota Vikings last week.
Kickoff Sunday is set for one o’clock.
