Half the workforce of P.W. Minor returns this morning following layoffs.
Less than half of the employees at P.W. Minor will be returning to work this morning after the company announced that 45 full-time workers in their Batavia factory are being laid off.
Friday afternoon the 150 year old Batavia Business now owned by Tidewater and associates out of Delaware released a statement saying that in a restructuring of operations it will focus its attention on orthopedic and diabetic footwear where the market appears to be growing.
40 workers kept their jobs and will head back to work today.
The company says in an effort to find jobs for their displaced workforce it has reached out to other local employers.

Pembroke woman arrested after endangering a child on the Rez.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 26 year old Rachel Solomon of North Lake Road following a reported violation of a court order of protection at a Meadville Road address on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation Saturday morning.
Solomon was accused of putting a child in danger as she reportedly became uncooperative with law enforcement.
She was charged with Criminal Contempt, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest and Endangering the Welfare of Child and was remanded to the County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Police seek assistance in identifying suspect trying to take Tide Pods from Tops.
City Police report an unidentified man attempted to steal 12 cases of Tide Pods from Tops Supermarket yesterday afternoon at around 4 p.m.
After being confronted by staff the suspect fled the scene on foot and was believed to have fled to the Tonawanda Creek bank.
Sheriff’s Deputies were called in with K9 Destro to assist in the search however there was no suspect found.
The City of Batavia is asking for the community’s help in identifying the suspect.

A State Senate committee is holding a public hearing today on an executive order giving parolees the right to vote.
Lawmakers, as well as the Elections Committee, will look at the state’s current parole standards and Governor Cuomo’s decision to issue conditional pardons allowing people convicted of crimes to cast a ballot.
The governor said back in April he thought it was wrong to deny those who have served their sentence their constitutional right to vote.
Today’s hearing will be at the Legislative Office Building in Albany.

For the first time since 2008, the Buffalo Bills are dealing with the aftermath of a shutout loss.
Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 298 yards and a touchdown as the Packers beat the Bills 22 to nothing at Lambeau Field.
Buffalo’s offense struggled all game long, and was only able to gain 145 yards.
The Bills return home to New Era Field to take on the Tennessee Titans next Sunday.
