A weekend crash on Route 63 in the Town of Bethany claims the life of a Williamsville man.
61 year old Syed Rahman was northbound on Route 63 late Saturday night when he drifted over the center line and struck a Bethany Fire Department ambulance.
The ambulance was out of service being returned to the fire department following an EMS call.
Rahman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The ambulance was driven by Bethany fireman James Duval.
He and his passengers, Melody Davis and Christopher Page, both Bethany firefighters, were taken to UMMC for treatment.

Two children, under the age of five, were apparently drugged and left alone in a LeRoy home.
Police arrested two people they say should have been caring for the children.
36 year old Amanda Havens and 48 year old Thomas Williamee, both of Munson Street, LeRoy were charged with child endangerment and drug possession.
Police say the children were given medication to make them sleep and were left alone for an extended period of time.
A Rochester police officer will be OK after accidentally shooting himself. The department says his personal weapon went off in the station’s locker room Saturday night. The chief says he was trying to put the gun in the holster at the time.
Genesee County Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy Destro has died.
The Sherriff’s Office announced over the weekend that Destro had succumbed to cancer.
Destro partnered his entire career with Deputy Chris Erion.
Destro was an 8 yr. old German Shepard that joined the sheriff’s office in August of 2013.
The Buffalo Bills are back on the winning track.
Kicker Stephen Hauschka hit a 46-yard field goal as time expired, giving Buffalo a 13 to 12 win over the Tennessee Titans at New Era Field.
It’s the team’s first win in front of the home crowd this season, and came a week after they were shutout for the first time since 2008. Buffalo is now two and three on the year.
It’s Columbus Day – a federal Holiday.
Banks, government offices and schools will be closed today, and there will be no mail delivery.
