Written by Dan Fischer on November 2, 2018
The family of Jerry Warner said today that the popular long-time WBTA Radio personality has entered hospice care.
Jerry, who left the air almost a year ago due to ill health, is now at Crossroads House in Batavia.
He is being cared for by volunteers and staff of Crossroads House, many of whom had been interviewed by Jerry over the years.
Jerry hosted the morning program at WBTA, including the daily talk show, Main & Center, for more than 30 years.
Anyone who wishes to send Jerry a card of support mail them to:
Crossroads House, 11 Liberty St., Batavia, NY 14020

A little over a year ago, Jerry and I had lunch at Terry Hills. In the late 70’s, early 80’s, I worked weekend relief for Jerry at the then massively popular WEZO-101.3 FM Rochester. A few years later, sometime in the 80’s, Jerry was on leave from WBTA and I spent mornings traveling from Penfield to Batavia to fill in for Jerry.
As a performer, Jerry was amazing. He cared about his audience. I remember a promotion in Henrietta at the what was then the “Hilton Inn on the Campus” now the airport Radission, his hosting the grand opening of the restaurant was successful as any Rock Star and WEZO was easy listening. We called the station the hits for elevator music and the room/restaurant overflowed with people.
Be comfortable Jerry that you are and were a star when radio was truly great. It was a privilege to work with you and call you friend.
Rest well my friend
