It may take the official canvass of votes from the eight counties of western New York to determine the winner of the 27th Congressional District race.
Incumbent Chris Collins is the apparent winner, with 49.4 percent of the vote. His democrat opponent Nate McMurray tallied 48.4 percent.
In Erie County, the largest portion of the 27th District, election returns typically are not certified until the end of November.

New York voters are giving Andrew Cuomo four more years as governor. The two-term incumbent won by a landslide, scoring 57-percent of the vote to beat his GOP rival, Marc Molinaro. Cuomo promised to serve a full term if elected but there’s already speculation that he could change his mind. It’s fueled by the way he put President Trump front and center during his campaign
This will be Cuomo’s third term as governor. His father, Mario Cuomo, also served three terms as the leader of New York.

Genesee County voters narrowly approve changing the term length of county legislators.
The measure will increase the terms from two to four years.
When fully enacted the nine legislative seats will be staggered – four districts will be elected in one year, and two years later, the remaining five districts will be elected.

In the139th Assembly District Republican Stephen Hawley was voted back in with 92% percent over Libertarian Mark Glogowski’s 8%.
In the 61st State Senate District, a much closer race for incumbent Mike Ranzenhofer.
Ranzenhofer keeps his seat defeating Democrat Joan Seamans 54 to 46 percent.

LeRoy Police arrest a Batavia woman for allegedly stealing the wallet of a co-worker and using that person’s credit card.
Charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th degree is 21 year old Shante Johnson of Holland Avenue in Batavia.
