GENESEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CENTER BRINGS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT MESSAGE TO ST. ANTHONY’S COMMUNITY CENTER

Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) Vice President of Business & Workforce Development Chris Suozzi joined officials from Remedy Intelligent Staffing of Batavia at St. Anthony’s Community Center last night for its monthly Activity Night to discuss job opportunities in Genesee County.
Suozzi and representatives from Remedy have attended several of these events in recent months and have spoken with community members about the wide range of job opportunities in Genesee County. In the weeks since their first visit, three of the Activity Night attendees followed through and started temp-to-hire placements through Remedy.
“There are so many career paths right here in Genesee County and Batavia, the first step is getting your foot in the door,” Suozzi said. “I grew up in Genesee County and love that I can utilize the resources within the GCEDC to give back to the community by contributing to the growth of Genesee County’s booming workforce.”
“A majority of the challenge has already been overcome because we’re meeting them face to face already in these type of casual settings,” said Remedy Intelligent Staffing Client Partnership Supervisor Katie Kempisty. “We then can meet with these individuals one on one and help them find opportunities in the workplace that fit their skill set.”
The weekly Activity Night, held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday’s at St. Anthony’s Community Center, gives attendees the chance to enjoy sports, art, dance, food, and games with fellow community members, all while receiving positive reinforcement and guidance. The event has grown from 12 people at the first event to 150 youth and adults the recent gatherings.
Remedy provides access points for attendees to learn more about their services and placement opportunities at the Activity Night.
